Zomppa – Food Good, Social Good

Last year, before we commenced our journey on the Camino de Santiago, Kat and I were fortunate enough to meet up with SpoonTrip and were thoroughly impressed and excited with their efforts to bring people together through food. It is this philosophy on which Zomppa was founded. Based on a Tibetan word meaning “to meet,” Zomppa is a nonprofit that aims to bring people together from all walks of life and to transform the relationship between food and people through awareness, dialogue, and education.

A global staff of writers representing 30 different countries and cultures seeks to influence public opinion and advocate for food consciousness through our international food magazine. Through articles and recipes, we seek to bring together typically isolated conversations: food politics, health & nutrition, travel, and children. For all you globetrotting foodies, Zomppa’s staff includes exceptional travel, culture and food writers from France, Italy, Hong Kong, and Australia, just to name few. Come check us out!

In addition to our food magazine, we have Zomppabus, an innovative program aimed at children ages 3-8 to teach food education from both a local and global perspective. Furthermore, our partner, Sol Food Mobile Farm, currently manages a bio-waste friendly school bus that will tour the U.S. in June 2012 to share with communities about gardening, composing, and healthy eating through global exploration.
